From Subsistence to Resilient Agrifood Systems
A structured transition requires more than training or access to a single input.
GETCARE FOUNDATIONOverview
Agricultural livelihoods become more secure when producers can plan, invest, respond to demand and manage risk. Yet many rural farmers face simultaneous constraints: unreliable services, fragmented markets, seasonal uncertainty and limited access to capital.
Moving beyond isolated interventions
A training event may increase awareness but cannot by itself guarantee affordable inputs, suitable land preparation, functional aggregation or profitable markets. A more effective approach considers these constraints as a connected system and determines what to address at each stage.
Strengthening the foundations
Local organisation, production records, service partnerships and practical agronomy can provide foundations for better crop planning and more reliable outputs. Market integration introduces requirements for volume, timing, quality and transaction confidence that must be matched to what producer networks can deliver.
Connecting growth with resilience
Food systems must also respond to climate variability, environmental pressures and the needs of households. Stronger rural economies require opportunities that are both commercially sensible and ecologically responsible.
The GetCare perspective
Through FAHAP and RETS, GetCare is exploring how structured delivery and adaptive learning can help create resilient agrifood systems over time. We regard such outcomes as goals to be tested and measured, not automatic results of enrolment in a programme.
