Wassa Community Engagement Informs RECLAIM Design
Field conversations in the Wassa landscape explored community priorities and the conditions for future restoration activities.
GETCARE FOUNDATIONOverview
In July 2026, GetCare Foundation reported a field visit in the Wassa area focused on community engagement and the exploration of potential restoration demonstration opportunities under RECLAIM.
Discussion with landholders and community members helped clarify local interests, land-use conditions and the need for further consultation. A landholder expressed an interest in exploring the possibility of making land available for a future demonstration, subject to subsequent assessment and agreement.
The engagement illustrates why land restoration should begin with people and institutions, not merely a technical planting plan. Legal requirements, ecological evidence, safeguards and livelihood opportunities remain essential before implementation.
