PROGRAMME & EVIDENCE

Scientific partnership across field platforms

Proposed programme

The West African Research Programme (WARP) is a proposed research architecture intended to bring long-term coherence to GetCare’s scientific engagement, instead of approaching every opportunity as an isolated study.

The research proposition

Development interventions vary greatly in their outcomes across communities, production systems and ecological contexts. Comparative learning requires a shared conceptual framework, credible methods, clearly defined research questions and sustained field relationships.

Proposed research themes

  • Adaptive sequencing of rural economic transition interventions.
  • Agrifood systems, producer organisation and market development.
  • Climate-resilient cereals, water and production adaptation.
  • Ecosystem restoration, mining-affected landscapes and livelihoods.
  • Nutrition, local enterprise and institutional capacity.

Consortium principles

The intended architecture combines standing research collaborators with carefully selected country and context-specific partners. Research ethics, governance, leadership, funding responsibilities and data-sharing arrangements are essential to credible work.

From evidence to investment

Research findings should contribute not only to academic publications, but also to programme improvements, policy relevance, decision tools and implementable investment cases.

Status and next steps

WARP is under development. Consortium membership, country participation, research awards and implementation arrangements are not represented as confirmed until formally agreed.
